New Delhi: A fantastic bowling by Amit Mishra (4 for 11), followed by an unbeaten half century (59 off 42 balls) by Quinton de Kock helped Delhi Daredevils beat Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets in the Indian premier league match at Ferozeshah Kotla, here on Friday.
Amit Mishra, who was Man of the Match, said, “I was just trying to take wickets. I got success and am really happy today. Wicket was on the slower side and little effort needed to spin the ball. I wanted to bowl the fourth over. We worked hard on batting, bowling and fielding, and it came out very well on this game. We hope to do good work in later matches as well.”
Delhi Daredevils captain Zaheer Khan said, “It was required. The win was required for us. Happy with the way we put our efforts on the field. It was a good toss to win. The energy out there was fantastic. We want that young energy. You want to see that energy on the field. I am very happy with the way the boys threw themselves around. We kept taking wickets. Mishra was really good. We want to build momentum at the right time, let everyone express themselves freely. We are playing RCB in a couple of days, and this will definitely help.”
Meanwhile, Kings XI skipper david Miller said, “Not enough runs. We had a few chances on the field. Momentum gets broken when you lose quick wickets. We have to look at the batting line-up.”
