Greater Noida: The third race weekend of the 2015 season of Volkswagen Vento Cup started off with a red-flag incident right at the beginning and forced a restart. Despite the restart, pole-position starter and race leader Anindith Reddy kept his cool and drove flawlessly throughout the eight laps of the race to clinch top honours. The only driver who was able to run at the same pace as Anindith was Ishaan Dodhiwala who crossed the finish line less than a second behind the winner. Completing the podium, alongside the two Hyderabad drivers, was Karminder Pal Singh (New Delhi), who came to the Round 3 of the season as the championship leader.
The fight for fourth, fifth and sixth kept the race interesting for the audience as Sailesh Bolisetti, Raghav Sharma and Prabhanj Paruchuri fought for their positions with several overtakes between themselves. A solid performance was put up by guest driver Nayan Chatterjee, first runner-up of National Karting Championship 2015, who finished 10th in his debut race of Vento Cup. The fastest lap of the first race of the weekend was set by winner Anindith Reddy with a lap time of 2:30.815 minutes.
Anindith Reddy, winner of first race of the weekend said: “I am happy to start the weekend with a pole position followed by a win. Ishaan kept putting pressure from the back and I had him always in my mirror. I had to make sure that I was driving with full concentration and didn’t make any mistake to let him pass me. With reverse grid, I will start Race 2 from 8th position and it will be a tough job with my closest and fiercest competitors starting ahead of me.”
